the challenges

Groundswell wanted a way to quickly share important pieces of information with their potential participants. Most folks did not read all the way through their FAQ page, which resulted in high call/email volumes for the Customer Support Department. Energy and Utility bill usage are inherently tedious topics and it takes a high cognitive strain for users to really comprehend matters related to energy. This was a large "barrier to entry" that Groundswell faced in their program.

THE PROJECT

A solution that I proposed was to create  "whiteboard" videos. The videos could range from 10 to 30 seconds, depending on the topic. This would be a quick, easy, entertaining, and most importantly, different way for Groundswell to distribute important information to their program participants.

I conducted interviews with past participants and analyzed data from the Customer Support department to discover the three biggest questions that users faced were:

  1. How does Groundswell's program work?
  2. What happens after I sign up?
  3. Why should I join Groundswell?

Groundswell also wanted a video to encourage "Sharing" about their wind energy program.
